The Spanish Language Immersion Program in Segovia, Spain was a once in a lifetime opportunity. It allowed me to experience the Spanish language and culture firsthand by living with a host family and experiencing everyday life in the beautiful city of Segovia. Being able to finally put all the years of Spanish classes to use was very rewarding, and nothing compares to taking Spanish classes when you are actually in Spain. There was so much history and culture all around us, and learning about this history where it actually took place and getting to see the art and architecture firsthand was extremely rewarding. Living with host families definitely forced you to speak the language, which, although challenging at some times, was vital for developing better fluency. Planning weekend trips was sometimes challenging as well, but having to figure out transportation and hostels, as well as navigating new cities was a learning experience. It helped me gain confidence in myself and my ability to be independent and taught me to not sweat the small stuff so much. It also gave me a new perspective on how big the world really is, yet small at the same time, and how everywhere in the world you can find people who share many things in common with you, but also people who are very different from you. On top of everything, the relationships you form with the people you meet through this program and the unforgettable memories you make together are priceless.

I would recommend this trip because you are able to have great experiences in a great place with great people. I find myself so lucky to have been in so many different parts of Spain, especially Segovia, with 18 other students, two professors, and a host family and be able to experience things I will probably never experience again. If you are on the brink of going, go.

Amazing program, definitely worth it to go through UD because the teachers are amazing and you become so close with the people on the trip and then get to see them on campus. We all learned so much and gain knowledge about the different language and culture we came to contact with. I would go again in a heartbeat if I could!
