University of Dayton Scholarships

A number of scholarship programs are specifically designed to encourage University of Dayton students to include an international program in their course of studies. Contact the sponsoring office for more information.
 

Semester Abroad and Intercultural Leadership (SAIL) Program 


Application Deadline: March 1

Students that attend either Maynooth University (Ireland) or Universidad Pontificia Comillas (Spain) for a fall semester abroad are automatically a part of the SAIL program and therefore qualify for the $3,000 SAIL scholarship.  This offer is only valid for fall semester enrollments at these two universities as part of the SAIL program.  Students that enroll in these universities during the spring semester will not be eligible for the SAIL scholarship.  More details may be found here. A scholarship is also available for students that study at the UD China Institute in Suzhou, China as well, and more details about this study abroad option may be found here.  Student accounts automatically reflect receipt of the scholarship during the program registration process.

UD Faculty-Led Program Abroad Scholarship

Application deadline: February 1 for Summer; September 30 for January Intersession

This scholarship provides assistance to students who have a demonstrated record of scholarship, leadership, community service, and financial need. Tuition scholarships typically range from $500 to $4,000. Students participating in Faculty-Led Programs listed at go.udayton.edu/FLPcosts for 2018-19 are eligible and encouraged to apply for this assistance. Upon returning to campus, scholarship recipients are expected to serve as ambassadors for education abroad programs, helping to further intercultural awareness on campus and assisting the Center for International Programs with student outreach and special events, when necessary. Daniel J. Curran and Claire M. Renzetti Scholarship Fund for International Studies

The fund supports scholarships for University of Dayton undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need who wish to participate in international human rights or service programs in Africa, South America, or Asia; or the UD China Institute. Immersion/BreakOut service learning Grant from Campus Ministry's Center for Social Concern

This scholarship is primarily provided by generous gifts from anonymous donors to help support students needing financial assistance on service/learning BreakOut or Immersion trips through the Center for Social Concern. This includes both domestic and international travel at Fall, Winter, Spring, May, or Summer breaks. Click here to apply.

Cordell W. Hull International Fellows Fund

University Honors Program students may apply for funding intended to support distinctive individual and group experiences, programs and activities that allow students to learn, lead and serve in an international setting. Robert C. Conard Scholarship for Study Abroad

The Robert C. Conard Scholarship for Study Abroad was created in recognition of Dr. Robert Conard, Professor Emeritus of German, who dedicated his professional career to teaching German to UD students and directing summer study abroad programs in Germany. Applicants need to be a French, German or Spanish minor or major and award is for a semester or more study abroad. This award supports students who participate in an immersion study abroad program in a non-English speaking country for a semester or more. Assistance Fund for Students of German

The Assistance Fund for Students of German was established by Dr. Elke and Prof. Edward Hatch in 1992. Both are retired from teaching but were long-time educators with the department. Through their support and the generous contributions of several individuals, the fund has been able to assist deserving UD students with the expenses of studying German in a German-speaking country. Bro. Paul Bredestege, S.M. Endowment for the Study of Spanish Abroad

Through the generous support of the Bredestege Family, the Bro. Paul Bredestege, S.M. Endowment for the Study of Spanish Abroad was established in 1992. Bro. Paul Bredestege, S.M. taught Spanish in the department for many years and was a strong advocate for students to participate in a study abroad experience. Bro. Paul's passion for the Spanish language continues to influence students through this fund by providing assistance to serious students of Spanish to increase their language skills in a culturally authentic setting. Tobias International Leadership Scholar Program


The Tobias International Leadership Scholar Program seeks to empower the next generation of female leaders from Indiana by providing experiences, mentorship and networks that they will need to thrive in the 21st century. The Tobias Program is available to women from Indiana who wish to study or serve abroad on a UD-approved program and desire to become future global leaders.  To apply, click here.

Terence J. and Carol W. Miller Scholarship

The Terrence J. and Carol W. Miller Scholarship is available to female students at the University of Dayton who are pursuing a major within the School of Business Administration (SBA). The award can be used towards any education abroad program, although preference is given to those participating in UD programs. Click here to apply.

Anderson China Studies Fund
The fund supports students who wish to advance United States/China relations by studying abroad and to further the collaboration between the two countries. The goal is to support the development of student leaders who can share the value of engagement across cultures with others. Study Abroad Scholarship

For students who were awarded this scholarship upon admission to UD, a one-time $3,000 Study Abroad Scholarship can be used to support select education abroad experiences.  This scholarship allows you to take advantage of our unique opportunity to learn overseas for an entire semester at no additional cost. Students may choose to utilize this scholarship when they attend the China Institute for a semester.  Students may also use this this scholarship when participating in a summer faculty-led program in which the student earns at least 9 UD credit hours.  Additionally, students that participate in the Semester Abroad and Intercultural Leadership (SAIL) Program in China, Ireland or Spain are eligible for a $3,000 scholarship (see above for more details).
